Rules about getting listed in search engines
Who makes up the search engine rules?
What are the rules for getting listed well in search engines?
(See our help for understanding
search engine listings)
Each search engine has its own rules. The funny thing about it is that their
rules are not public! Webmaster experience and discussion is used to figure
out the rules and how they determine acceptance or rejection of listings and
ranking. Its one of the few games where only the gamemaster knows the rules.
They also change the rules from time to time. Google has its own rules, Yahoo/Overture,
MSN and just about all others have their own rules.
Some internet rules and guidelines have absolute definitions,
while others are more ambiguous, and as the web changes - and that can be
on any day - so may the rules change!

Our knowledge is included here along with our opinions. Both
have been acquired over the ten years we
have been developing winning web sites and helping business owners understand
the web vocabulary in plain talk. Yes, were were pioneers of the Internet
when it was was just words!
