#6 Create a powerful website, how to add power to your website

Key to website success Tip #6

The Strong and Powerful Website

.

Dibbern Key #6 Plan to get your website visitor involved!
Give your website more power!
Design your website with user interaction:
- Invite inquiries and questions.
- Make it easy to contact you.
then
- Add a form plus direct e-mail links.
- Offer downloadable information about your business through a service like QuickBrochures that converts your printed documents into downloadable files for you and gives you the e-mail address of those who download your brochure, rates or spec sheets- great for direct mail thank you's and notices about specials, newsletters and promotional e-mailings.
Web based Email marketing programs and services for sending promotional emails are quite inexpensive and easy to use.
- Think about offering a sign-up for people to get your specials or a newsletter you create from time to time! (Known as an "opt in" if the user chooses to be on your emailing list) This gives you e-addresses to create your own, free mailing list for user interaction after they have left your site.

- Offer an on-line form for inquiries only- let the viewer ask you questions about your product or service.
- Offer an on-line form for beginning the selling process through your website- even if you do not have e-commerce and the final sale will require a call-back from you.
- or Offer a printable form that people can fill out and mail or fax to you.
- Offer direct e-mail to you in addition to any forms. Some people do not like on-line forms.
- Offer a form for people to tell you what they'd like to see added to your website. (What are we missing?)

ON THE OTHER HAND, IF YOU ARE A PUBLIC SITE, UNLESS YOU OFFER A SECRET FORMULA ON YOUR SITE OR SOMETHING SIMILAR, NEVER REQUIRE A PERSON TO SIGN-IN BEFORE VIEWING YOUR SITE because you may outsmart yourself: your drop-away rate will be very high.

- Any brochure. spec sheet, rate sheet or other information sheet you have available in print should be used in addition to the website - not in place of information on your website. Is it duplicating information if you include the same information on your web site as is in your brochure? Sure it is, but you would rather have people read your web site and then want to get more or printed information from you because it is a signal to you that they are really interested. Offer any printed material you have through your website using a service like QuickBrochures.
Why not just have the visitor print your web page? Here are a few reasons:
-Today, some web pages are too wide for printing in standard upright paper mode- portrait mode- which usually is the normal setup for a printer. Either information gets cut off on the right, or people must reset their printer to print on the width of the paper- landscape mode.
- Today some web pages are designed so they do not print everything on the page which frustrates the web visitor.
- You should want someone to interact with your site, the process of downloading your brochure signals more than a casual interest in what you offer and they will remember you long after they left their computer. This also gives your web visitor the chance to show you off to someone who is not at their computer - a great big plus when a joint decision to buy is necessary.
