As of May, 2012, there were over a dozen sites in locations in senior centers and community centers throughout the county. Lunches are served in a group setting, and meets 1/3 of the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) for older adults and follows the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
Meals are served Monday through Friday. Reservations are required, which means you must call the site by 1:00 p.m. at least one day in advance.
In coordination with local ethnic organizations, the program also includes meals prepared to ethnic tastes. Schedules and days that meals are served varies. Be sure to contact the organization for details.
Kosher lunches are served by the Jewish Community Center at five sites in Silver Spring and Rockville.
Two organizations have meal programs with Korean cuisine. They are Fellowship Senior Center at the New Covenant & Fellowship Church in Germantown, and the Korean American Senior Citizens Association of Maryland at Global Mission Church in Silver Spring.
Two organizations have Chinese meals. They are Chinese American Senior Services Association, and the Chinese Culture & Community Service Center.
