Are logos for the web the same as logos for printed material?

There are two ways to look at this question:

1. Not necessarily. They may look the same, but internally are quite different. Logos for print material, such as brochures and magazine ads are "high resolution", while logos for the web are "low resolution". You can make a low resolution logo file from a high resolution logo file, but not vice versa. This means that if you want to use your logo for print as well as the web, ask for it in high resolution before the designing begins

2. You can use a visual variation of your print material logo to use on the web. You can add depth, or a background image, or modify the use of color, or other modifications to your existing print logo.

If you saw this doctor's logo, would you try this doctor for an adult serious illness or would you likely expect a children's doctor or somebody other than a medical doctor? The image must fit the business.

Color is as important as all the other elements that create your logo. Do you get a feeling of freshness from this color choice? Second, colors in print material translate differently to the screen. Colors also vary from computer to computer.

This is the only remaining version of original old logo, blurry, off color, unusable logo for print, lost original art, and unknown original designer, but has been easily identifiable for this client for many years.

Since your new logo will not be coming off a shelf pre-packaged, but rather your logo will be developed by a designer with a sales/marketing person so the logo is both good looking and appropriate for your business, plan on a minimum of $300 for a basic web logo with 3 choices of preliminary designs and 2 opportunities to make suggestions or changes to your final selection. Animated logos vary in cost based on animation work.
