The Pennsylvania Department of Aging recommends the state's Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program as your main resource to insure that your rights as a Personal Care Home Resident are being protected.
The 52 Area Agencies on Aging in Pennsylvania provide Ombudsman services. Ombudsmen provide information, answer questions, investigate complaints and offer assistance to resolve your problems about the quality of care or treatment provided to you.
In addition, the Department of Aging has published a brochure titled "Know Your Rights as a Personal Care Home Resident" which you can download to learn more about general information on many of those RIGHTS.
There are other rights also: to be treated with dignity; to personal privacy; to be free from restraints; to receive visitors daily are some of them.
You can get the complete list by downloading the brochure at the Department of Aging website. This is the link to the "Know Your Rights as a Personal Care Home Resident" brochure.
