In our experience, this is one of the first questions almost every family asks. We found average costs for each state on a web site from The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services .

They say the average cost in 2010 of Nursing Home care in Ohio was $218.00 per day for private care, and $194.00 per day for semi-private care.

The daily cost varies, depending on your locality. In Cincinnati, for instance, the average cost of private care per day was $222.00. In Cleveland, it was $240.00. The rest of the state has a lower daily cost, as an average, of $206.00.

The United States average cost for a semi-private room was $205.00.

For comparison, the average monthly cost for Assisted Living in Ohio was $3,199.00. The cost of a home health aide was $20.00 per hour.
